GoHighLevel Review (2026): What It Actually Costs
By Stefan Ciancio on
The single most common GoHighLevel complaint is not about features. It is about the bill.
People sign up for the $97 plan and get charged $400. That is not a scam, and it is not a bug. It is how the pricing model works, and almost nobody explains it before you are already in.
So let me.
The quick verdict
Use it if: you are an agency or a coach with multiple funnels and clients, you can commit 60 to 90 days to learning it, and you want to stop paying for six separate tools.
Skip it if: you need one funnel and one email list. You will pay for ninety percent of a platform you never touch.

One analysis of BBB complaints and Reddit threads found that the advertised $97 to $297 realistically lands between $400 and $1,700 a month once usage is included, and documented one complaint of $1,142 in unexpected billing.
None of this makes GoHighLevel bad value. Replacing a CRM, a funnel builder, an email platform, an SMS tool, a scheduler and a review manager for $297 plus usage is genuinely good math. But you need to walk in knowing the sticker price is a floor, not a ceiling.
One correction while we are here: you will see "$0.0079 per SMS" quoted in a lot of articles. That is the base pass-through rate before carrier fees. The realistic all-in cost is $0.013 to $0.018, which is why HighLevel's own rate card shows $16.60 per thousand. Carrier fees also rose in April and May 2026.
SaaS Mode, and why the tier matters
This is where agencies actually make money, and the tier detail is important.
Unlimited ($297) lets you rebill phone and email to clients at cost. Agency Pro ($497) lets you rebill with a markup. That markup is a second profit line and it only exists on the top tier.
The common resell price is around $297 a month per client. At 35 clients that is $10,395 a month against a fixed $497 platform cost, because the platform fee does not scale with client count. That is roughly a 95 percent gross margin, and it is the real reason agencies build on this.
The honest downsides: churn concentrates in the first 60 to 90 days on clients who were not qualified properly, support becomes a part-time job past 25 to 30 clients, and the white-label mobile app at $497 a month takes 4 to 12 weeks to get through Apple review.
The catch
The learning curve is real. Consensus on time-to-competence is 60 to 90 days minimum. One Reddit user put it well: it "saved my marketing agency thousands but the learning curve lowkey broke my brain."
Reported bugs and slowness. Capterra reviewers describe it as "clunky, poor UX" and "slow at times." One reported a workflow being removed with no resolution.
Support is inconsistent. Capterra: "After 4 hours waiting on zoom, got absolutely nowhere." There is a February 2026 Reddit thread titled "DO NOT use GHL" from a high-volume customer about exactly this.
Deliverability after migration is a known failure mode. One documented case saw open rates fall from 35 to 40 percent on Keap down to 9 percent after migrating, caused by incomplete DKIM and DMARC setup before sending. If you move, get your authentication right before your first send. This one is avoidable and it burns people constantly.
Billing complaints. Capterra: "charged multiple times without having ever trialed the product."
Ratings sit at 4.6 on G2 across 651 reviews and 4.2 on Capterra across 89.
What changed in 2026
AI Employee launched in May 2026 at $97 a month for unlimited Ask AI. There was a "Summer of AI" promotion running June through August 2026 making several AI features free, and post-promotion pricing has not been published, so if you are reading this after August 31 verify the current AI rates yourself.
Also: the V1 API was sunset in June 2026. No new keys, no security patches. If you built on V1, you need to migrate.
GoHighLevel vs the alternatives
Against ClickFunnels, the argument is consolidation. ClickFunnels builds funnels. GoHighLevel is the CRM, the pipelines, the calendar, the SMS, the reviews and the funnels, and it can be white-labeled and resold.
Against Kajabi ($179 to $499) or Kartra ($97 to $499), it is a similar consolidation argument with the agency reselling layer on top.
The real question is not features. It is whether you will use enough of it. If you are running one offer, this is overkill and Systeme.io or ThriveCart plus an email tool will serve you better and cheaper.
The rest of my stack. Every tool I use to run four companies, what each does, and where each falls short.
I send what I am actually running every week. Free.
FAQ
How much does GoHighLevel really cost?
The plans are $97, $297 and $497 a month. On top of that you pay usage: about $16.60 per 1,000 SMS, $1.35 per 1,000 emails, $0.26 a minute for Voice AI, and $20 per 1,000 premium workflow executions. Real-world totals commonly land between $400 and $1,700 a month depending on volume.
Which GoHighLevel plan do I need for SaaS Mode?
Agency Pro at $497. Unlimited at $297 lets you rebill at cost but only Agency Pro lets you add a markup, which is where the margin is.
Is GoHighLevel good for coaches?
Yes if you run multiple funnels, do appointment booking, and want SMS follow-up in the same place as your CRM. No if you have one offer and one list.
Why did my GoHighLevel bill go up?
Almost certainly wallet usage. Emails, SMS, calls, AI actions and premium workflow executions are billed separately from your plan. Check your wallet transaction log.
Is GoHighLevel worth it?
For agencies and multi-funnel operators, yes, and the resell margin makes it an obvious yes at Agency Pro. For a solo operator with one offer, no.
