ThriveCart Review (2026): The Lifetime Deal Just Changed
By Stefan Ciancio on
If you have read anything about ThriveCart in the last five years, the pitch was always the same: pay once, own it forever, never pay a monthly fee for your checkout again.
That changed on July 17, 2026. ThriveCart launched monthly subscription pricing. Most articles ranking for this product have not caught up yet.
Here is what actually happened, and whether the thing is still worth buying.
The quick verdict
Use it if: you sell digital products, courses or coaching and you want a checkout that converts with upsells, bumps and affiliate management built in.
Skip it if: you need a real CRM, built-in email marketing, or heavy design customization. It does not do those and it is not trying to.

Two important details.
Existing lifetime license holders are grandfathered and unaffected. If you already own it, nothing changes for you.
The lifetime license still exists but is de-emphasized. As of late 2026 there is still a link to the one-time Standard license below the subscription cards, and the homepage says only "Ready to commit for life? Available as a lifetime option." The price is no longer displayed prominently. Legacy pricing was $495 for Standard.
Break-even between the $444 annual subscription and the $495 lifetime is about month 13. If lifetime is still available to you at that price and you plan to sell online for more than a year, it is not a close call.
One correction to the old lifetime story, and it matters: the Pro+ upgrade is no longer a one-time purchase. It runs $295 a year for lifetime license holders. So even the "lifetime" license is only fully lifetime if you stay on Standard.
What Standard gets you versus Pro+
Standard: unlimited products and carts, checkout customization, one-click upsells and downsells, order bumps, A/B testing, abandoned cart recovery, subscriptions, checkout in 100+ countries, basic email integrations.
Pro+ adds: affiliate management, sales tax automation, dunning for failed payments, custom domains, advanced reporting, and client and JV billing.
The affiliate management is the reason most serious sellers go Pro+. Running your own affiliate program through the same system that processes the sale removes an entire tool from your stack.
One genuinely good 2026 change: courses and community are now bundled into every license as a ThriveCart Academy plan, which eliminates the old $395 Learn+ add-on.
The "0% fees" claim now has an asterisk
ThriveCart still takes 0 percent of your sales. You pay only processor fees, roughly 2.9 percent plus 30 cents on Stripe.
But accounts opened after May 1, 2026 pay a tax processing fee when tax collection is enabled: 0.5 percent per transaction on Standard, 0.35 percent on Pro+.
That is small, and it is still far better than platforms taking 5 or 10 percent. But "0% fees" is no longer strictly true for new accounts using tax collection, and you should know that before you see it on a statement.
Support add-ons also exist, from $19 a month for live chat up to $499 a month for a dedicated Slack channel.
Why I still use it across four companies
The checkout converts. Order bumps, one-click upsells and downsells all work properly and are genuinely easy to configure. This is the whole job and it does the job.
The cost structure. I bought lifetime years ago, and across four companies that decision compounds every single year. Most software decisions are not feature decisions, they are decisions about what your cost base looks like in year three. A competitor at $99 a month is roughly $3,600 over three years and it never stops.
Affiliate management included. No separate tool, no separate fee.
It just runs. In years of use, the checkout has not been the thing that broke.
The catch
The interface is dated. G2 and Tekpon reviewers say this constantly, and they are right. There has been no significant design refresh in a long time. One G2 reviewer on the roadmap: "Their 'big' update has been due months ago, there's still no word."
Design customization is restrictive. You work within templates. If you want a fully bespoke checkout experience, this will frustrate you.
No multi-item purchase. Customers cannot buy several products in one transaction. For most digital sellers this never comes up. If you sell bundles of separately-listed items, it is a real limitation.
Reporting is limited. No product grouping, awkward access to custom field data, and nothing close to a real BI tool.
No built-in CRM and no built-in email marketing. You will bring Kit, ActiveCampaign or similar, which is a real added cost of $29 to $59 a month. ThriveCart is a checkout, not a platform, whatever the marketing implies.
Annual billing is $444 upfront, not $37 a month, despite how the pricing page reads.
Ratings: 4.6 on G2 across 31 reviews, 4.7 on Tekpon across 2,259.
ThriveCart vs SamCart
The closest comparison, and the honest version is about pricing philosophy rather than features.
SamCart starts around $59 a month and is a monthly subscription. ThriveCart is now $37 a month annually, with a lifetime option still hanging around.
SamCart has a more modern interface and better templates. ThriveCart has affiliate management on Pro+ and, if you can still get it, the lifetime license.
Other alternatives: Podia at $0 to $75 a month, though the free tier takes 8 percent. Payhip has a free tier. Gumroad is free with a 10 percent cut, which is fine at low volume and brutal at scale. Kajabi at $179 to $499 is a different category entirely, an all-in-one business platform rather than a checkout.
The rest of my stack. Every tool I use to run four companies, what each does, and where each falls short.
I send what I am actually running every week. Free.
FAQ
Is ThriveCart still a one-time payment?
Partly. ThriveCart launched monthly subscription pricing in July 2026 at $37 a month annually for Standard and $67 for Pro+. The lifetime license still exists but is de-emphasized and its price is no longer prominently published. Existing lifetime holders are grandfathered.
How much does ThriveCart cost in 2026?
Standard is $37 a month billed annually at $444, or $47 month to month. Pro+ is $67 a month billed annually at $804, or $87 month to month. There is now a 30 day free trial.
Does ThriveCart charge transaction fees?
It takes 0 percent of sales, you pay only processor fees. However, accounts opened after May 1 2026 pay a tax processing fee when tax collection is on: 0.5 percent on Standard, 0.35 percent on Pro+.
ThriveCart vs SamCart, which is better?
SamCart has the better interface and templates. ThriveCart has affiliate management built into Pro+ and better long-run cost economics, especially if you can still get the lifetime license.
Is ThriveCart worth it?
